Finding Species has built a unique team of scientist-photographers, who are without peers in their combination of photographic talent, scientific knowledge, use of professional equipment, and ability to employ cutting-edge methods to document species.
Finding Species photographers document endangered, native, and invasive species, as species that are new to science. We also document threatened habitats, and vanishing indigenous arts and skills linked to nature.
Finding Species scientist-photographers have pioneered our unique methods to document subjects. We take artistic portraits against black backgrounds, eliminating distracting elements and capturing up-close the individuality and identifying characteristics of each species. Where possible, we include the Finding Species SizeChecker, to make comparisons between species easy and accurate. Finding Species ensures that each photographic portrait is of the highest aesthetic quality.
The result is our body of trademark photographs, widely recognizable to scientific and public audiences. The vivid images are so compelling that they can be successfully integrated into campaigns to inspire conservation action by political leaders and the public. They can also be used in scientific identification guides and projects to inventory species. And, our photographs can be used in educational outreach projects to teach citizens, students, and children about the fascination and value of biodiversity. Finally, Finding Species are a permanent archive for humanity.
